Product Description

The outer layer of the cast basalt lined steel pipe is made of Q235 or 16Mn carbon structural steel as the load-bearing matrix. By controlling the rolling process, its yield strength is ensured to be ≥ 235MPa, providing sufficient circumferential stiffness for the pipeline to withstand working pressures of 3.5-35MPa; The inner layer is cast basalt formed by controlled crystallization after melting at 1500 ℃, with the main crystal phases being wollastonite and pyroxene. By controlling the cooling rate of 5-10 ℃/min, the Mohs hardness of the material reaches 6-7 levels, and the Vickers hardness (HV) is ≥ 800, far exceeding the 200HV of ordinary steel. The interface bonding of the two layers of materials is achieved through an epoxy resin based transition layer, with a thickness controlled between 0.5-1mm. This not only solves the thermal stress problem caused by the mismatch of thermal expansion coefficients between steel and basalt (12 × 10 ⁻⁶/℃ vs 8 × 10 ⁻⁶/℃), but also avoids the risk of interface peeling in traditional mechanical composite methods.


The main characteristics of cast basalt lined steel pipes are: resistance to corrosion such as H2S, CO2, saltwater, low scaling, less wax deposition, good flowability, flow coefficient 1.5 times that of steel pipes, excellent mechanical strength, light weight, low installation cost, and a service life of over 30 years under working conditions of medium speed ≤ 10m/s and density ≤ 2g/cm3. In some engineering projects, even after 50 years of use, there is no problem. The connection between pipelines and fittings can be achieved through flange connection, flexible joint connection, or welding connection. Its main application scope includes: pipelines for transporting crude oil, natural gas, and freshwater; High pressure pipelines, such as sewage injection and underground oil pipes; Petrochemical process pipelines; Oilfield sewage and wastewater treatment pipelines; Hot spring pipes, etc.

Advantages of cast basalt lined steel pipe

 

(1) Excellent corrosion resistance performance

The basalt fiber high-pressure pipeline structure is divided into three parts: inner lining layer, structural layer, and outer protective layer. Among them, the resin content of the inner lining layer is high, generally above 70%, and the resin content of the resin rich layer on the inner surface is as high as about 95%. Compared with steel pipelines, basalt fiber high-pressure pipelines have much superior corrosion resistance, such as solutions of various strong acids and alkalis, inorganic salts, oxidizing media, hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide, various surfactants, polymer solutions, various organic solvents, etc. As long as the resin matrix is selected well, basalt fiber high-pressure pipelines can withstand for a long time (except for concentrated acids, strong alkalis, and HF)

(2) Good fatigue resistance and long service life

The design service life of basalt fiber high-pressure pipelines is greater than 30 years, but in reality, they often remain intact after more than 30 years of use and are maintenance free during their service life.

(3) High pressure bearing capacity

The normal pressure level of basalt fiber high-pressure pipeline is 3.5MPa-25MPa (up to 35 MPa, according to wall thickness and calculation), and compared with other non-metallic pipelines, it has higher pressure resistance.

(4) Lightweight, easy to install and transport

The specific gravity of basalt fiber high-pressure pipes is about 1.6, which is only 1/4 to 1/5 of that of steel pipes or cast iron pipes. Practical applications have shown that under the same internal pressure, the weight of fiberglass pipes of the same diameter and length is about 28% of that of steel pipes.

(5) High specific strength and reasonable mechanical properties

The axial tensile strength of basalt fiber high-pressure pipelines is 200-320MPa, which is close to that of steel pipes, but about 4 times higher than the strength. In structural design, the weight of the pipes can be greatly reduced, making installation very easy.

(6) Other performance:

Not prone to scaling and waxing, low flow resistance, good electrical insulation performance, simple connection method, high strength, low thermal conductivity, and low thermal stress.

Note

 

Bending pipe is the most worn area and prone to problems in the pipe systems. To better protect piping systems, the design and installation bend in pipe are essential. Generally bending radius R of curvature is not less than five times the pipe diameter in order to reduce rate of wear.

Of course, if the installation space is enough large, the greater radius of curvature, the lower the rate of wear , future extend the period of use.
