Products Description

Unlike cast steel balls and ordinary rolling formed ceramic grinding media, 95 alumina grinding balls use high-purity alpha alumina as the main raw material, supplemented by scientifically proportioned sintering aids, and are formed by cold isostatic pressing to ensure uniform internal density and no internal structural defects.

We offer three mainstream grades with alumina contents of 92%, 95%, and 99% to adapt to different grinding working conditions. The standard diameter range is 13mm to 90mm, and we customize microspheres below 10mm for ultrafine grinding scenarios. After high-temperature sintering above 1600 ℃, the finished ball has high sphericity, smooth surface, and consistent hardness distribution. They are compatible with both dry and wet grinding processes and will not dissolve or precipitate impurities that contaminate the processed materials.

Compared with traditional steel grinding balls, the wear rate of alumina ceramic balls is 10-20 times lower, which can effectively avoid the contamination of materials by iron ions. They are the preferred grinding media for products with high requirements for material whiteness and purity. Its reasonable density also ensures sufficient impact force during the grinding process, balancing grinding efficiency and moderate service life.

Advantages

1. Ultra low wear and tear, reducing medium consumption costs
The internal structure of the 95 alumina grinding ball is dense, with a Mohs hardness of up to level 9. Under standard grinding conditions, the volumetric wear rate is as low as 0.012-0.015%, which is 15-20 times lower than that of ordinary high chromium steel balls. The ultra-low wear loss greatly reduces the frequency of ball replacement and the purchase of grinding media. Compared with steel balls, the annual medium cost can be reduced by 40-60%. At the same time, less wear debris avoids clogging of the screening system and reduces the daily maintenance workload of the grinding equipment.
2. Inert materials that do not contaminate processing materials
High purity alumina has stable chemical properties and does not react with most inorganic and organic materials. During the grinding process, there will be no metal ion precipitation like steel balls, ensuring the purity and whiteness of the processed material. Especially suitable for grinding scenarios with high requirements for material color and purity, such as ceramic glazes, white cement, lithium battery positive electrode materials, food additives, and pharmaceutical raw materials, avoiding product quality degradation caused by medium pollution.
3. High grinding efficiency and shortened production cycle
Reasonable density and smooth spherical surface ensure good fluidity and impact grinding effect in the mill. Compared with natural pebbles and ordinary rolled ceramic balls, finer particle size distribution can be achieved under the same grinding time, or the grinding time can be shortened by 15-25% under the same fineness requirements, which increases the single machine output of the grinding equipment and reduces the unit power consumption of the product.

Application

1. Preparation of ceramic body and glaze

Ceramic manufacturers need to reduce the raw materials to an appropriate particle size before forming and firing. Alumina grinding media can be used to grind clay, feldspar, quartz, and other ceramic components. Proper grinding can improve dispersibility and help manufacturers obtain more uniform raw materials for future molding processes.

2. Mineral powder processing

Mineral ores and industrial minerals typically require controlled reduction in particle size before classification or further processing. When it is necessary to limit the introduction of metal impurities, ceramic media can be used. The ball diameter should be selected based on the feed particle size, mineral hardness, and the desired final particle distribution.

3. Electronic ceramic materials

Electronic components typically rely on powders with strictly controlled chemical composition and particle characteristics. During the grinding process, even a small amount of unwanted pollution can affect the performance of downstream materials. Therefore, alumina media can be used to prepare ceramic powders for substrates, insulation components, and other functional materials.

4. Research on batteries and new materials

Powder processing is an important step in the development of many energy related and functional materials. Laboratory and pilot scale grinding may require the introduction of media with minimal foreign components. During the material development process, alumina ceramic balls can be considered for compatibility with formulations, although the final medium selection should always be validated through contamination and compatibility testing.

Why choose us?

1. Focus on grinding media rather than general ceramics

The grinding efficiency is influenced by the interaction between the medium size, grinding speed, feed characteristics, and target particle size. We focus on ceramic grinding products and understand that choosing the appropriate medium requires considering the entire grinding process, not just the alumina content.

2. Consistent composition, predictable grinding

Small differences in the density, size, or surface condition of grinding media can affect the grinding behavior during long-term production processes. Our 95 alumina grinding balls are manufactured using controlled raw materials and production parameters, which helps maintain consistent physical properties between batches.

3. Suitable for different powder processing requirements

Different materials require different grinding strategies. Ceramic raw materials, minerals, pigments, chemical powders, and other products may have different feed particle sizes and fineness targets. We can assist customers in evaluating suitable ball sizes and specifications based on the materials being processed.

4. Pay attention to pollution control

For many powder processing applications, the wear of grinding media can affect the purity of the finished material. Alumina ceramic media provides a non-metallic grinding option that helps reduce the risk of iron contamination associated with traditional steel media.

FAQ

Q1: How to determine the appropriate ball diameter and load ratio?
A1: The ball diameter mainly depends on the feed particle size and target fineness. Generally speaking, coarse grinding uses large balls, fine grinding uses small balls, and multiple sizes of balls are used together to achieve the best grinding effect. The loading ratio is usually 30-50% of the effective volume of the mill, and needs to be adjusted according to the mill type, power, and material characteristics. You can provide your mill parameters and grinding requirements, and our technical team will provide you with specific matching solutions.

Q2: What is the actual service life of alumina grinding balls?
A2: The service life is related to the alumina grade, material hardness, grinding time, and speed. Under traditional ceramic glaze grinding conditions, 95% of alumina balls can be continuously used for 2-3 years; For high hardness mineral grinding, the service life is about 1-2 years. Compared with steel balls, the service life is extended by 8-15 times, and the overall cost of use is lower.

Q3: Can alumina grinding balls be used together with raw steel balls in the mill?
A3: It is not recommended to mix them together. The density and hardness of the two are different, and mixing them can cause uneven stress, increase the breakage rate of ceramic balls, and fail to fully utilize the advantages of alumina balls. It is recommended to replace all alumina ceramic balls at once to achieve optimal performance. If you are in a transitional phase, you can also gradually replace them in bulk.

Q4: Will the grinding ball break during use?
A4: Under normal usage conditions, our isostatic pressed grinding balls have high impact toughness and are not easily broken. Broken balls are usually caused by large feed particles, high mill speed, or mixing of metal foreign objects. We will provide clear usage and maintenance recommendations when delivering the product. If a large number of balls are not damaged by human factors during the warranty period, we will be responsible for replacing them.
