Bauxite

Bauxite actually refers to a general term for ores composed mainly of trihydrate alumina and monohydrate alumina that can be utilized in industry. Bauxite is the best raw material for producing metallic aluminum and the most important application area, accounting for over 90% of the world's total bauxite production.

Product Introduction of Bauxite

Bauxite, also known as bauxite or bauxite, is mainly composed of alumina, which is a hydrated alumina containing impurities and is a soil like mineral. White or grayish white, brownish yellow or light red due to iron content. It is obtained by calcining (heating) high-quality bauxite at high temperatures (from 85 ℃ to 1600 ℃). This can remove moisture and increase the alumina content. Density 3.45g/cm3, hardness 1-3, opaque, brittle. Extremely difficult to melt. Insoluble in water, soluble in sulfuric acid and sodium hydroxide solutions. Mainly used for refining aluminum and making refractory materials.

Ceramic reinforcement materials

Adding alumina micro powder can improve the strength of ceramic bodies (flexural strength increased by 15% -20%, according to experimental data from the China Ceramic Industry Association).

3D printing of refractory components

High purity alumina powder can be used to directly print refractory components with complex shapes, reducing losses in traditional molding processes.

The core use of bauxite

We are looking for a cooperative partner to expand our business.

Manufacturing of refractory materials

After high-temperature calcination, bauxite produces high alumina alumina clinker (Al ₂ O3 content ≥ 85%), which is the main raw material for refractory bricks and castables. For example:

The refractory bricks lining the blast furnace can withstand high temperatures above 1600 ℃;

In the refractory materials used for cement rotary kilns, bauxite clinker accounts for 50% -70%.

Aluminum metal smelting

Extracting alumina through Bayer process or sintering method, and then electrolyzing to produce metallic aluminum. Approximately 4 tons of bauxite are consumed for every 1 ton of aluminum produced (according to data from the International Aluminum Association). China's electrolytic aluminum production accounts for 57% of the global total (in 2023), driving sustained growth in demand for bauxite.

Environmental Protection and Chemical Applications

Wastewater treatment: The calcined product of bauxite can be used as an adsorbent to remove phosphate from water (removal rate over 90%, Journal of Hazardous Materials research);

Catalyst carrier: Gamma alumina is commonly used in petroleum cracking catalysts, which is processed from bauxite.
