Technical Parameters
The production process of high quality calcined bauxite is quite meticulous. It uses low iron and low alkali content primary bauxite as raw material, and is sintered or calcined at high temperatures of 1600 to 1800 degrees Celsius. This high-temperature calcination process is of great significance as it can promote the formation of highly fire-resistant mineral phases - corundum and mullite - in the raw materials. It is the presence of these two mineral phases that endows calcined bauxite with excellent properties, making it possess high refractoriness, good mechanical strength, and moderate slag resistance.

Application
After mixing high quality calcined bauxite with binders, it can be processed into various shapes through various methods such as pressing, extrusion, and casting. After drying, it is sent to the kiln for firing to produce shaped refractory materials; At the same time, high quality calcined bauxite can also be used to produce amorphous monolithic refractory materials. It is worth mentioning that high-quality calcined alumina used for producing brown corundum is also an important source of refractory materials. Compared with other high alumina refractory materials, it has stronger mechanical properties and chemical corrosion resistance.
Steel industry
In the masonry of blast furnace lining, refractory bricks mainly made of calcined bauxite are used, which can withstand high temperatures above 1500 ℃ and the erosion of molten iron and slag in the blast furnace, extending the service life of the blast furnace. For example, in the major overhaul of a blast furnace in a large steel enterprise, the use of SNR90 type calcined alumina refractory bricks increased the continuous operation cycle of the blast furnace by nearly 30%.
Steel industry
The firing zone of cement rotary kilns is the core area for high-temperature operations, and the refractory materials used here need to withstand high-temperature airflow and material erosion. Amorphous refractory materials (such as castables) made from calcined bauxite can be tightly integrated with the kiln body and effectively resist high-temperature wear through on-site casting. After a cement plant adopted this type of material, the maintenance interval of the rotary kiln was extended from the original 6 months to 10 months.
Glass industry
The pool walls and chest walls of glass melting furnaces need to work at high temperatures for a long time and avoid corrosion by glass liquid. Refractory materials made from calcined bauxite are widely used in these areas due to their excellent resistance to glass infiltration. After using this type of material in the melting furnace of a certain glass production enterprise, the production stability of glass was significantly improved, and the defect rate was reduced by 15%.
