Products Description

Rubber ceramic conveyor belts have surfaces that are not worn, polished, or damaged at these contact points. Manufacturing method: Aluminum oxide tiles are arranged in a grid with controllable gaps, placed in a mold, and encapsulated in uncured rubber under heat and pressure. During the vulcanization process, rubber flows into the slightly rough back and sides of each tile, and then cross connects into a continuous network, mechanically interlocking with each tile. This is not a tile stuck to rubber, but a tile embedded in rubber, fixed from all directions. Even cracked tiles will remain in place because the surrounding rubber will retain fragments. At 60-75% ceramic coverage, the surface is wear-resistant, while the exposed rubber strip provides grip, impact absorption, and consistency. The mottled tiles add micro textures that can interrupt the water film and maintain friction under humid conditions.

Due to the lack of steel backing, the board can accommodate pulleys as small as 400 millimeters, bend around the chute wall, and be cut on site with an art knife. The installation method is CN cold bonding (no drilling or hot work required), with high vibration parts connected by bolts or permanently installed by welding. MSHA 2G compound meets the requirements for underground coal flames and anti-static properties.

Advantage

The Mohs hardness of alumina ceramics reaches level 9, second only to diamond, and its wear resistance is more than 10 times that of ordinary rubber and more than 15 times that of bare steel. We embed 92% or 95% high-purity alumina ceramic mosaic into natural rubber matrix through high-temperature and high-pressure vulcanization process, forming a double-layer composite structure of "ceramic wear-resistant surface+rubber buffer layer" - the ceramic faces the material erosion, and the rubber absorbs the impact energy. The two work together to achieve a service life of 5 to 8 years under high wear and high impact conditions, far exceeding traditional rubber encapsulation (6 to 18 months) and cast stone lining (12 to 18 months).

The concave ceramic surface can break the lubrication effect of water film and dust layer, and maintain a friction coefficient of 0.5 to 0.65 under humid or muddy conditions, which is nearly twice that of smooth rubber, fundamentally eliminating the problem of conveyor belt slippage. The product does not include a steel backplate and can be bent to wrap rollers with a diameter as small as 400 millimeters. It can also be cut on site with an art knife and adapted to irregular parts such as chute surfaces and guide troughs.

Application Engineering

1. Conveyor drive and buffer pulley lag

The main application of rubber ceramic conveyor belts is to drive the insulation layer of pulleys, where composite materials replace rubber or diamond groove rubber insulation layers. The insulation layer is usually installed in radially extending strips around the pulley, with a gap of 3-5mm between the strips for thermal expansion and drainage.

2. Impact bed and loading area

At the conveyor transfer point, composite materials are installed as impact bed bars - strips installed on the impact frame below the belt, replacing traditional rubber impact bars or steel rollers. The ceramic surface is facing upwards, in contact with the lower side of the belt, while the rubber matrix absorbs the impact of the falling material. Unlike rubber crash bars, rubber crash bars will permanently compress under repeated strong impacts, while ceramic rubber composite materials can fully recover because tiles bear static loads, while rubber only handles dynamic impacts. The typical service life of heavy-duty mining loading areas is 4-6 years for composite materials and 12-18 months for rubber crash bars.

3. Transition and bending wear zone of the chute

Due to the absence of steel backing in the sheet, it can be bent to conform to the curved chute walls, hopper cones, and transition sections, where rigid ceramic rubber steel plates cannot follow geometric shapes. Cut and shape on-site with a heavy-duty multifunctional knife or band saw, and then cold bond to the prepared steel surface. This makes it an ideal choice for renovation projects where the geometric shape of the chute is complex and prefabricated rigid panels need to be custom formed. Typical applications include: conveyor discharge covers, curved walls of conveyor troughs, feed trough liners, and screen discharge troughs.

Process quality control

Each batch of production passes through five inspection gates: (1) raw material verification - testing of tile density, porosity, and dimensional tolerances; Rubber compounds for testing Mooney viscosity and curing properties; (2) Pre vulcanization assembly inspection - verify tile placement, gap uniformity, and rubber sheet thickness before mold closure; (3) Sulfurization monitoring - record the temperature, pressure, and curing time of each pressing cycle, and verify the curing through an oscillating disc rheometer; (4) After curing inspection - check the tile coverage, rubber pores, bubbles, and dimensional tolerances of each board; 100% hammering test of ceramic rubber adhesive; (5) Destructive sample testing - testing one sample per batch, conducting tensile, elongation, peel strength, and wear tests, and recording the results in the batch testing report.

Why choose us?

The rubber ceramic conveyor belt is produced by our factory located in Zibo, Shandong, which is one of the few manufacturers that produces high alumina tiles and rubber composites and vulcanization in a single integrated operation. Most competitors purchase tiles from one supplier, rubber from another supplier, and assemble them at a third location - this means that the key ceramic rubber bonding depends on the quality of the adhesive interface, rather than vulcanization mechanical interlocking. We can adjust the rubber formula, ceramic grade, tile geometry, and coverage according to your specific application, instead of forcing you to choose from a fixed catalog.

Our engineering team not only sells sheet metal, but also evaluates your conveyor system. We suggest sending: conveyor drawings and pulley dimensions, belt specifications and speed, material type and particle size distribution, moisture content and temperature, current hysteresis/lining type and service life, as well as any repeated failure modes. Then, we return a report detailing the ceramic grade, tile surface (smooth/dented), rubber compound, sheet thickness, installation method, and expected service life, supplemented by our erosion model that combines particle impact velocity, angle, and hardness.

We have provided ceramic rubber composite materials for over 300 conveyor systems in 28 countries, with a recorded service life of over 7 years in multiple mining and power plant applications. Standard boards will be shipped within 7-10 days; Customize configuration within 20-30 days. The annual production capacity exceeds 35000 square meters, equipped with four vulcanizing machines ranging in size from 1m × 1m to 2m × 4m, capable of processing standard and oversized sheets.

FAQ

Q1: Can composite materials be installed on pulleys that are still on the conveyor?
A1: Yes, for cold bonding installation. By flipping the pulley over (manually rotating or using a driver to rotate at crawling speed) and applying the sheet in sections, the pulley can be fixed in place. The total installation time for the 1200 mm × 800 mm drive pulley is usually 4-8 hours, including surface treatment and a 24-hour curing time before restarting. This is a greater advantage than the rubber insulation layer used in the workshop, which requires the removal of pulleys (usually requiring 2-3 days of operation, involving the removal of crane rigging and bearings). If the passage around the shaft is restricted, bolt connections and welding installations may require the removal of the pulley.

Q2: What happens if tiles break or fall off during use?
A2: In the vulcanized structure, the cracked ceramic tiles are still embedded in the rubber matrix - the surrounding rubber fixes the fragments in place, and the cracked ceramic surface still provides wear protection. Completely missing tiles are extremely rare (requiring tearing of the surrounding rubber). If tiles are lost due to extreme impact or damage, the area can be repaired by cutting the surrounding rubber to expose the steel, cleaning the surface, and cold bonding replacement tiles or a small piece of matching board. We offer repair kits with pre cut tiles, CN adhesive, and instructions. The repair of each tile takes 15-30 minutes and solidifies within 24 hours.

Q3: Is the durability of Masha flame retardant compounds lower than that of standard compounds?
A3: In on-site comparisons, MSHA compounds have shown comparable wear life to standard compounds in underground coal applications. Flame retardants and anti-static agents are incorporated into the rubber polymer matrix without coating on the surface, so they do not leach or degrade with wear. If your application is on the ground but in high fire risk areas (coal pile conveyors, sawdust processing), we recommend using MSHA compounds as a safety upgrade.
