According to the different contents of alumina, alumina grinding beads can be divided into medium alumina balls, medium high alumina balls, and high alumina balls. The alumina content of 60 -65% is ordinary aluminum balls, suitable for low requirement and low-cost grinding scenarios; 75 -80% are high alumina balls, with improved hardness and wear resistance, suitable for medium load grinding equipment; If the alumina content exceeds 90%, it is classified as high-purity alumina grinding beads, which are further divided into four grades: 90 ceramic, 92 ceramic, 95 ceramic, and 99 ceramic.
Compared with glass beads and steel balls, alumina grinding beads have a dense internal crystal structure. After sufficient high-temperature sintering, they have the characteristics of high strength, low wear, and low water absorption. They have stable performance in dry and wet grinding environments and will not cause pollution to the grinding materials. They are suitable for various high-precision grinding equipment.
Preparation method of Alumina Grinding Beads
The quality of alumina grinding beads depends on the control of raw materials and production processes. We strictly control the quality from the source to the finished product throughout the entire process to ensure stable performance of each batch of products.
Raw material pretreatment: Ultra fine high-purity alumina powder is selected, and after entering the factory, it is screened to remove impurities, tested for purity, and the particle size of the powder is strictly controlled.
Ingredient mixing: Mix raw materials and additives according to different purity ratios, accurately control mixing time, and ensure uniform distribution of raw materials without clumping.
Roll forming: Using roll forming and mechanical pressing processes, the roundness of the bead body is strictly controlled to ensure a smooth and spherical surface of the finished product.
Low temperature drying: constant temperature gradient drying, slowly removing moisture from the billet to avoid cracking and deformation during high-temperature sintering.
High temperature sintering: Adjust the sintering temperature (1400 ℃ -1600 ℃) according to the purity, and perform insulation sintering to make the bead structure completely dense.
Screening and polishing: Precision equipment grading particle size, slight polishing to remove burrs, full inspection to remove broken and deformed beads.

High strength and high hardness: The Mohs hardness of the high-purity series reaches level 9, and the ordinary series reaches level 7.5. It is not easily broken under high-speed grinding and impact.
Ultra low wear: The dense crystal structure significantly reduces wear, with 95 ceramic series wear ≤ 0.10 ‰, reducing the frequency of consumable replacement and lowering production costs.
High packing density: Different series have packing densities of 2.9-3.7g/cm ³, and the higher the density, the stronger the grinding efficiency, effectively shortening the grinding time.
Good sphericity and smooth surface: The beads are round and smooth, and do not wear down the inner wall of the equipment during grinding, reducing equipment maintenance costs.
Low water absorption rate: The water absorption rate of the entire series is ≤ 0.02%. It does not absorb moisture in wet grinding environments and does not affect material properties.
Strong chemical stability: resistant to acid and alkali corrosion, does not react with grinding materials, eliminates material contamination, and ensures product purity.

1. Mining industry: suitable for grinding non-metallic minerals such as kaolin, calcium carbonate, silicon dioxide, zirconium silicate, as well as metal minerals such as gold, silver, nickel, zinc, and lead.
