Yesterday, an Iranian customer ordered ZTA alumina ceramic balls from our company. Now I will introduce them to you. Zirconia toughened oxygen can be prepared by introducing zirconia into alumina ceramics
Aluminium oxide (ZTA) ceramics. Zirconia can change phase in alumina ceramics
Toughening and micro-crack toughening effect on alumina ceramics toughening and supplementing
Strong, thus improving the toughness of alumina ceramics, so ZTA ceramics are non
Often promising ceramic materials.
Toughening mechanism of ZTA ceramics
Phase transformation toughening
Phase change toughening is the toughening effect caused by the transformation from metastable tetragonal phase zirconia to steady monoclinic phase zirconia. Phase change is induced by tensile stress at the crack tip. The phase change process is accompanied by 4% volume expansion and 6% shear strain, which produces compressive stress and finally prevents crack propagation
ZTA ceramics balls are added only when external forces are applied to further propagate the cracks
The toughness.
Microcrack toughening
In ZTA, microcracks toughen in two ways
The reason is that the grain size of zirconia in the sintering process is larger than the critical size, so in the cooling process of ceramics, the phase transformation effect produces volume expansion, and then the ceramics are broken, resulting in a large number of microcracks. The other is due to the thermal expansion mismatch between zirconia particles and alumina phase, resulting in microcracks. When the stress is applied to the microcrack region, the microcrack can absorb part of the energy and reduce the stress concentration at the main crack tip
