The properties of tabular corundum have many applications in the field of refractories. Mainly used in iron and steel industry. Tabular corundum is an ideal material for high alumina bricks and amorphous linings containing 90-100% alumina. Tabular corundum is suitable for ceramic, chemical and water - bound substrates.

Tabular corundum can be used alone and in combination systems or with calcined/or activated alumina. Because tabular corundum exhibits high purity even in fine powder, it can be used to improve the properties of lower alumina aggregates. Examples include bauxite and fused brown corundum, using coarse particles of these aggregates and medium particles and fine powder of tabular corundum.

The main chemical composition of alumina sintered corundum is Al2O3(85~88%), SiO2(3~4%), TiO2(3.5~4.5%), Fe2O3(5.6~6.5%). It has α -- Al2O3 microcrystalline structure, high toughness, can withstand large grinding pressure without breaking, and can cut thick metal layer, transverse feed can be up to more than 6mm. The shape of abrasives can be made into various column shapes, which is a special case of all abrasives and is suitable for heavy load grinding.
