7. Discharge plasma sintering
Discharge plasma sintering is developed in recent years, a relatively new way of sintering, it is the use of pulse energy, pulse pressure produced by the instantaneous temperature field to realize ceramic internal grain of spontaneous heating so that the grain activated, because this method of sintering temperature, fast cooling, heat preservation time is short, inhibits the growth of the grain, shorten the preparation period of the ceramic, save the energy.Discharge plasma sintering is actually a new method of hot pressing sintering. The ceramic samples obtained have uniform grain size, high density and good mechanical properties. It is a valuable and promising sintering method.

In the process of preparing high purity alumina ceramics by discharge plasma sintering, the heating rate has great influence on the sintering densification of samples at different stages.In the initial stage of sintering, a faster heating rate can increase the density of sintered body, while in the later stage of sintering, a faster heating rate will lead to a decrease in the density of sintered body.
